PNC-27 is a 32-residue chimeric peptide containing the MDM2/HDM2-binding domain of p53 (amino acids 12–26) fused to a membrane-penetrating sequence. It selectively targets HDM-2 that is aberrantly expressed on the surface of cancer cells — a phenomenon not seen in normal cells — inducing pore formation and direct cell membrane disruption. This selectivity profile makes PNC-27 a valuable research tool in oncology cell biology studies examining p53/MDM2 interactions and novel cancer-selective mechanisms.
